Introduction - Half in 130

In May 2012 I was little over 1 year from reaching sixty years old and I decided to try to mark the occasion with a better than 60min completion of the Great Manchester Run 10K (story at 60@60). Before that I had last run in 1976 in a 1.5ml cross country race for leaders in a south Manchester scouting event.
Well I did it, 58:18, and thoroughly enjoyed the day. What had been expected to be a one-off resulted in me growing to love running and since then I have completed several 10Ks and enjoy my local parkrun.

So, now 5 years later, it's my 65th birthday in May and I decided to try for the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon to celebrate. Time isn't really important but as the Half is around twice a 10K I'm going for twice my age so 130 mins.

My next post will be an update on progress so far.

Sponsorship

I am embarrassed to ask for sponsorship when just doing something I enjoy but this one is hurting and taking a lot of will power to maintain training so I feel ok asking people for sponsorship to give me that extra push and this is a great cause.

If you would like to support this amazing organisation feel free to do it via my JustGiving page below.
